September 14, 2020 US DOC, Rosatom initial uranium agreement extension The U.S. Department of Commerce and Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom have initialled a draft amendment to extend the Agreement Suspending the Antidumping Investigation on Uranium from the Russian Federation, which expires this year. The amendment, if finalised, will extend the deal to 2040 and "reduce US reliance on uranium from Russia" for the next 20 years. US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said, according to Russian news agency TASS, that the proposed amendment will "contribute to the restoration of Americas nuclear energy advantage and protect the domestic industry from dumped Russian uranium.

September 4, 2020 White House issues cybersecurity space policy The White House released a new space policy directive Sept. 4 intended to improve cybersecurity of space systems. Space Policy Directive (SPD) 5 is billed as the first comprehensive government policy related to cybersecurity for satellites and related systems, and outlines a set of best practices, but not firm requirements, that agencies and companies should follow to protect space systems from hacking and other cyber threats.
