In many states, school nurses have been working with local health officials to act as contact tracers, interviewing those infected with COVID-19 — roles that sometimes turn into even greater support for families in need. It helps that school nurses have connections with their communities that foster trust.

New - Proposals Sought for Community Health Equity Program
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Community Solutions for Health Equity program aims to elevate the voices and priorities of communities of color. RWJF seeks letters of intent, ideas that identify a community problem, and suggest how to partner with health care systems on a solution. Deadline: October 7, 3:30 p.m. ET.
New - ANA Invites Nominations for Its Innovation Awards
The American Nurses Association seeks nominations for its Innovation Awards, which celebrate nurse-led innovations that improve patient safety and outcomes. The award monies go toward supporting translational research, development, prototyping, production, testing, and implementation for an innovative product, program, or project. Deadline: November 1.
Midcareer health professionals and behavioral and social scientists are encouraged to apply for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows program, a yearlong learning experience in Washington, D.C., that seeks to build and maintain strong and diverse leadership and a workforce skilled in health policy. Complete Survey to Assess APRN Practice Barriers During COVID-19

Participate in Testing the Board Engagement Survey
Calling all registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs): have you served for at least one year on a board of directors with fiduciary responsibilities? You may be eligible to participate in a study, approved by the University of Massachusetts Boston Institutional Review Board, to test an instrument aimed at measuring the engagement of nurses on boards.
