John -- We’ve known for decades that our education system is fundamentally broken, but COVID-19 is further exposing deep rooted issues. 

Parents, caretakers, and students are scrambling to maneuver a new learning environment in the age of a global pandemic, exacerbating the disparities that too many children and families already face. While many have adequate internet access and the means to stay at home with young children, others are struggling to keep up with new requirements to remain on track. 

Meanwhile, underfunded school systems are trying to make sure students and teachers have the necessary resources and equipment for classrooms; but they are struggling to keep everyone safe and learning. From outdated (or no) technology to shortages of PPE and cleaning supplies, teachers, students, and families have been put at risk.

We demand that our elected leaders do their duty and protect children and teachers. Even before COVID, our school system was failing, and nothing has been improving. 

That’s why it’s important for us to elect a Brand New Congress, full of working-class people, including teachers. Adrienne Bell (TX-14) is one such teacher.
