Loyal readers! Please be patient as we are working through what the ATNJ Newsletter will look like in the coming months. For now, we are focused on the election so here's what we are working on:
Through our ATNJ Education Fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we are educating voters on Vote By Mail through our popular website VoteByMailNJ.org.
Through our Action Together New Jersey (ATNJ) 501(c)4 nonprofit, our Civil Rights Director, Rachel Green, has started an initiative called Women of Color For Change, a coalition of mothers, daughters, leaders, and organizations led by Black women and their allies. Check it out and see how you to help to enact equality in all communities that encounter law enforcement.
Through Action Together PAC, volunteers have claimed and are working on nearly 200,000 postcards to re-elect Representatives Andy Kim (CD3) and Tom Malinowski (CD7). We are also working hard to flip CD 4 and elect in candidate Stephanie Schmid. You can check out our smiling volunteers here!
I am working to ensure that the Ballot Cure Act will be applied to voters who inadvertently tear off the Certificate of Mail-in Voter. There's a reason that I named the bill the "Ballot Cure Act" and not the "Signature Mismatch Act." The letter was sent today to Secretary Way to respectfully ask her to provide clear guidance to all county Boards of Elections to provide voters the ability to fix their ballots if the Certificate is Missing since the Ballot Cure Act specifically provides for "signature missing." No Certificate means there is no signature. Nine of the bill's sponsors and cosponsors signed this letter and I'm grateful.
