You've heard time and time again how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell takes pride in blocking every single progressive, good bill from a vote, whether it's protecting healthcare, securing elections, or preventing gun violence. The long-term GOP incumbent from Kentucky is actually proud of it, saying the Senate is a "graveyard" and he's the "Grim Reaper."

As of yesterday, Mitch McConnell has a new thing to worry about: his reelection. We have the chance to flip the Senate, and along the way we can reward McConnell's proud obstruction by voting him out of office and replacing him with Democrat Amy McGrath.

You may remember Amy - she was one of our all-star Democratic House candidates in 2018, just barely losing a narrow race in a heavily Republican district. Amy is a former Marine fighter pilot -- the first woman pilot to fly the F/A-18 on a combat mission -- with a commitment to actually represent the people of Kentucky and defend our democracy while fixing the mess McConnell has made in Washington. Having met her last year, let me tell you she's one of the most impressive candidates you will ever meet, and if anyone can win this race, it's her.

In just the first 24 hours of her campaign announcement, Amy raised an impressive $2.5 million from grassroots donors, showing the real promise we have to win and defeat McConnell in 2020. But we know from past experience that McConnell, one of the longest sitting Senators in Washington, has a war chest that will only grow with help from Trump, special interests and dark money conservative groups.
