Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

I just got home from a few days organizing in Buffalo, Ithaca, and Syracuse, and I have to tell you I’m coming back feeling pretty hopeful.

I went to these places to launch an organizing program across New York. Over these next 5 weeks, organizers and volunteers will be knocking on doors and canvassing with the specific goal of reaching people who have not voted in two consecutive federal elections and are at risk of being purged from the voter rolls.

Launching this program and speaking with organizers has filled me with hope that the energy to elect Democrats up and down the ballot is out there if we can channel it into turning people out who may have previously felt left behind or that their vote did not matter.

The way we do that is by giving people something worth showing up for: Medicare for All, universal childcare, a living wage, and a government that actually works for them.

Oligarchs who profit from division want working people afraid of each other. But what I saw upstate — people enjoying the Ithaca Apple Festival, connecting in Churches, students asking questions at a town hall — is what happens when people stop being afraid of their neighbors and start organizing with them instead.

Solidarity is contagious.

If we can get people excited to vote in Buffalo, Ithaca, and Syracuse, we can build it across the nation in 2026, 2028 and beyond, because organizing does not start and end in the weeks around an election. Thank you for being a part of this campaign.

Whether you made a donation, signed up for a volunteer shift, or talked to a neighbor, you are part of how we build this together.

With your support, I'm going to spend every one of these next 33 days fighting to take back the House and Senate, and to give every working person a reason to vote on November 3rd.

In solidarity,

Alexandria
