John, you couldn’t ask for a clearer example of why state supreme court races are so incredibly important for the fair maps movement:

Right now, the Wisconsin Supreme Court is considering striking down an egregious Republican congressional gerrymander. That would be a huge victory for democracy and allow Wisconsin’s U.S. House elections in 2028 to actually reflect the will of the people.

But that outcome is only on the table because everyday Wisconsinites and groups like the NDR PAC fought year after year to elect a pro-democracy majority to the Badger State’s highest court.

And we’ve got MORE state supreme court seats we need to win this November in North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan, where we can make undeniable progress against gerrymandering and defend voting rights.

That’s on top of over 300 other state-level elections we’ve identified and endorsed candidates in this year as pivot points for protecting democracy. But as we look at our budget and race to get out the vote, we still need to hit our grassroots goal before the end of the month.

To help win vital races like these and help fight for free and fair elections, please make a donation to the NDR PAC and help make sure we don’t fall short of this critical target. [[link removed]]

Wisconsin’s manipulated congressional map has effectively been in place since 2011, when Republican Governor Scott Walker and his partisan allies put it into effect.

Want to know how extreme their gerrymander is? In 2024, the people of Wisconsin voted 51% for Republican U.S. House candidates and 48% for Democrats, but the election led to a congressional delegation of six Republicans and only two Democrats.

Republicans won 51% of the vote but got 75% of the seats. Nobody I know would call that a truly representative democracy.

That map should be long gone, but in 2021, the Wisconsin Supreme Court rubber-stamped it in a clear failure to exercise neutral and independent judgment.

But after years of patient work, the fair maps movement played a critical role in flipping control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2023 and electing a new, independent-minded, pro-democracy majority. Now we have a chance to call on the current court to right the wrongs of the past and strike down this gerrymandered congressional map. Thanks to the dedication of this movement, a relic from the Scott Walker era could finally be swept into the dustbin of history.

With supporters like you powering the fight, we can keep winning more elections that can help block or overturn gerrymanders. Will you rush a contribution today to help hit our grassroots fundraising goal by September 30th and continue fighting for democracy? [[link removed]]
