Hi ,
If writing a memoir has been on your bucket list, your opportunity to start is coming up next week.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Poynter’s Mining for Memoir ([link removed]) begins its five-week live online workshop with award-winning memoirist and writing professor Mallary Tenore Tarpley ([link removed]) , author of “SLIP.”

“I don’t think you need to get an MFA to write a book, but I do think it helps to have additional support that can help you make progress. This is why I now teach writing workshops — to provide guidance and support in hopes that I can help others make meaningful progress on their own memoirs in community with others.” says Mallary Tenore Tarpley.
Across five 90-minute workshops, you’ll learn how to:
* Find the focus that makes your memoir distinct
* Turn memories into vivid scenes
* Research and report your own life story
* Navigate writing about family and difficult truths
* Structure personal narrative, reporting and research
* Develop a book proposal
* Understand the path to agents and publishers
You’ll also explore memoir+, an approach that combines personal narrative with reporting and research to broaden your story’s scope and reach.
