Hey John,
Gayle Paul and Lewis Bernier are both amazing community members and activists who will be presenting at the Meetup: Emergency Preparedness and Surviving Crisis. Gayle will be speaking from the perspective of a therapist on how we can emotionally and mentally be resilient during these challenging times. Lewis will speak on practical things we can do to be prepared in the face of crisis. Join us this Saturday, September 19th, at 11 AM. The event will take place at dxe.io/meetupzoom.
If you're interested in getting more involved in this active community, apply to become a chapter member at dxe.io/apply.
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all will be taking place in Pacific Time, unless otherwise noted). Action events are highlighted in blue and community events are highlighted in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Wednesday, September 16th, 7:05 PM: Office Hours with DxE's Development Team - Do you want to get more involved in the DxE SF Bay Area chapter? Do you need help with a project you are currently working on? Tania Campos will be hanging out on the Zoom call and available to answer your questions. You can join for the whole hour or just for a few minutes. See the event page details for information on Zoom instructions.
- Saturday, September 19th, 1:30 PM: This is an Emergency: Divest from Animal Ag - If we don’t change our food system now, we could find ourselves with a new, highly lethal, rapidly moving pandemic that could kill millions of people. That is why we need to take action to demand that Berkeley divests from animal agriculture! Everyone's safety is a priority, if you are sick or don’t feel comfortable going outside right now, please stay home and support our action online! For everyone attending in person, we will maintain social distance- that’s ten feet in between people. We also ask that everyone showers and wears freshly laundered clothes. Please bring a mask and keep it on at all times, this is mandatory in Berkeley. We will be meeting at Crescent Lawn at UC Berkeley.
- Sunday, September 20th, 1 PM: How to Save a Life: Useful Skills for Animal Caretakers Part I - Join shelter veterinarian Dr. Crystal Heath for a training in basic medical support, providing first aid, performing a physical exam, identifying potential disease, preventing disease outbreaks, surgical assisting/recovery and ensuring someone gets the care they need. The Zoom call-in link will be posted on September 20th.
