Protect our public lands
John,

What politicians are doing to our public lands was once unthinkable. Now it’s shockingly common … and we need your help to stop it.

Carrizo Plain National Monument in Southern California is under attack. The Bureau of Land Management has approved a plan to drill for oil and run a pipeline right through the middle of this national treasure.

Allowing this to happen not only goes against what our national monuments stand for, but also sets a dangerous precedent: that oil wells and pipelines should be allowed on these protected areas across the nation.

Drilling and mining forever change the landscapes they touch, long after anyone has stopped exploiting them. We shouldn't permanently scar our public lands for the temporary benefit of just a few people.

John, these lands belong to the public, not to private companies. You can help protect them from destructive exploitation by making a special, one-time contribution today.

Carrizo Plains is home to tremendous diversity and richness of plants and wildlife, including spectacular super blooms that paint the ground in gold and purple. Drilling for oil and building a pipeline in this breathtaking place could irreversibly harm threatened and endangered species, cause air pollution or oil spills, and mar the scenic views that visitors come from all over the country to experience first-hand.

If these attacks on public lands continue, more special places and irreplaceable vistas will be ruined … so that a few private companies can profit.

Our public lands are exactly that: Ours. Please help us keep them that way. Your tax-deductible gift today will support all our vital work, including the fight to preserve public lands and block any measure that eliminates funding or sells these lands off.

Now more than ever, these shared spaces should be loved and enjoyed by families from all walks of life. But powerful politicians and companies are working to convert public property to private profit.

That’s why I’m asking you, John, to contribute to the work of The Trust for Public Land.

Over the next five years, The Trust for Public Land has set a goal to protect one million acres of land. Let’s start here. Let’s start now.

Sincerely,
Kim Elliot Signature
