Dear Concerned Citizens:
As of April 2019, Idaho citizens have been able to request changes to their birth certificate regarding individual gender through the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare’s Office of Vital Statistics. However, earlier this summer, on July 3, 2019, the department proposed a slight change to the rule which allowed the possibility for public review.
Thankfully, we caught this proposed change just in time. With the help of concerned citizens like you, we successfully collected thousands of signatures - submitting petitions requesting public hearings for 22 of Idaho’s 44 counties.
Unfortunately, the department chose to schedule only five public hearings to review the proposed rule changes.
We thank those of you who signed petitions for reaching out and taking a stand! Without your efforts, none of this would have been possible. We strongly encourage you to continue to participate by attending one of these meetings in order to push back and have your voices heard.
Remember that by voicing your opinions, we can have these changes revoked!
Below are the following dates and locations that have been scheduled for public hearings. Additional information can be found here.
