UFCW 400 member tapped for Electoral College Jacqueline Echavarria, a 22-year UFCW Local 400 member who works as a cashier at the Petworth Safeway, has been selected as one of the three Biden-Harris campaign delegates to the Electoral College from the District of Columbia. With Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris overwhelmingly favored to win the District of Columbia, Jacqueline will in all likelihood be one of the 538 Electors to choose the next President and Vice President of the United States. “It’s always good to give back, especially for something as serious as voting,” she said. “People have got to vote like their life depends on it, because it does." Jacqueline was selected because she is a model volunteer who has devoted countless hours to political causes, to the nation, to her union, and to her community. Read more here
Union Plus VP "Mission Maker" at CSA Union Plus vice president Jill Cashen has achieved "Mission Maker" status at the Community Services Agency after raising $5,500 in CSA’s new Board Member Challenge. CSA’s Fundraising Committee launched the Challenge earlier this year to help CSA cover general operating costs. Although the agency has been successful at securing grants for its various projects, "It’s really tough to get grant funding for general operating costs,” said CSA Executive Director Sonte DuCote. Cashen was the first board member to achieve the “Mission Maker” status. “CSA is doing vital work to support local workers and we are grateful to be a part of the effort,” said Cashen. “Union Plus is proud to give back to members across the country with our hardship grants, mortgage assistance and educational resources.” Union Plus president Mitch Stevens added that "The Union Plus team works hard to provide a safety net for union members and their families. We’re proud to partner with the Community Services Agency as it provides needed resources for members facing economic stress from the pandemic." CLICK HERE to donate to CSA.
