I have a real-world example about why our County Chairs are critically important to the functioning of our democracy.

At the end of last week, ballots started being mailed out to voters around the state. But, one of our County Chairs noticed a discrepancy between the office a candidate had submitted for, and what appeared on the ballot.

The issue was flagged, representatives from the state and national party, voter protection efforts, and attorneys all weighed in, and we had new corrected ballots in production that day.

We were able to catch and solve a problem immediately, because the County Chair was so deeply embedded and involved in their community.

And that’s why our work matters. This is why we invest so heavily in local politics, and why it matters who is in these offices.
