John,

Rural Americans and the agriculture industry have been failed by the Trump administration, and they deserve better.

They’ve been left behind in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rural health care centers and hospitals have gone underfunded for too long and are unable to handle a surge in cases. Republicans’ refusal to fund the U.S. Postal Service uniquely impacts rural communities, so many of which are not served by other delivery carriers. And students in rural areas who are now attending school remotely face barriers to internet access thanks to poor broadband infrastructure.

But even before the pandemic struck, the Trump administration was no friend to rural Americans.

Donald Trump raves about how trade wars are good for our country. They sure aren’t good for our farmers. And the aid payments that the administration told us would help have mostly gone to the country’s biggest farms and have not stopped the surge in farm bankruptcies.

Rural Americans will have an important part to play in November’s election. Their voices must be heard -- and their votes could make the difference in states like Montana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.

That’s why we’ve started Rural America 2020. We’re here to speak out when Donald Trump and his administration hurt rural folks and to speak up for the policies we know will support our communities.

Please, take a minute to watch a quick video from me about what we’re trying to accomplish, and then give what you can to support our mission:
