“Do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just ok,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi told House Democrats this morning.

According to a report in Politico, Speaker Pelosi made the comment after criticisms on the popular social media site by progressive members of the party. One progressive, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, even called centrists “New Southern Democrats.”

When is it fair to criticize members of our own party? I believe the time is NOW.

We can’t continue down this path of appeasing right-wing demagogues while failing to meet the challenges of our time: Medicare-for-All, the Green New Deal, Free College, and a Federal Job Guarantee.

This is no time to stop using our voices. It’s time to get louder, time for us to demand bold and politically courageous leadership.
