John, for years, the people who write the biggest checks in our politics told us the same thing: you can't.
You can't run a campaign without taking corporate PAC money.
You can't say out loud that this seat isn't for sale and expect to still be standing at the end of it.
You can't win in Michigan without making a few concessions to your values.
They said our movement wouldn’t make it through the primary. We faced $70 million in outside spending. It was one of the most expensive Democratic primaries in American history.
You know what happened next: we WON — and not by accident.
We won because nurses and autoworkers and volunteers knocked doors and sent us five and ten bucks at a time, and it added up to something the big money interests couldn't buy.
We defied the status quo once, and now we have to do it again.
- September 30, this Wednesday, marks our final FEC quarterly deadline before Election Day. After that, everything we've raised and spent gets reported out publicly.
- Mike Rogers will read our report. So will Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the MAGA billionaire donors bankrolling Rogers’ campaign. They’ll take a look at our numbers to decide how much more cash they should dump into Michigan.
- The stronger we look, the more nervous they’ll get. They won’t want to risk wasting a bunch of money here if it looks like Rogers is a lost cause.
So that’s our goal: raise as much as we possibly can before the month is over to ward off any future GOP investments.
I don’t take corporate PAC money. I never have, and I never will. So even though I don’t love asking for money, I have to. It’s the only way we can defy the odds again and win this November:
