John, by now it’s no secret that our opponent has his own record of infamy — but when we saw this troubling new report, we were once again reminded of who we're up against:

“Document shows Maricopa County Republican Sheriff Nominee Jerry Sheridan Uses Racist Language” — Blog for Arizona

Official documents from the supervisor of a former MCSO deputy, who was related to Jerry Sheridan, contain allegations from that deputy that our opponent routinely used racial slurs when referring to President Barack Obama. The documents also recall a family gathering where Sheridan was present where a family member shot an American flag in protest of President Obama’s election. To date, he has not denied these serious accusations.

These vile actions have no place in our society, and certainly not in leadership. At a time when the relationship between the community and law enforcement are so frayed, actions such as these further erode trust, making it harder for good law enforcement professionals to do their jobs. Our opponent claims to be a patriot, but using racial slurs or standing by while others perpetuate racist acts does not make you a patriot. He does not deserve the authority of law enforcement so he can continue to exact his hateful attitude on our community.

Sheridan lacks the decency and ethics to serve Maricopa County. He was already found in contempt of court for his role in the Arpaio administration’s refusal to abide by the federal court orders to stop racial profiling, which has cost the taxpayers over $140 million dollars and harmed members of our community. He has cost us too much already. We need to say no to Joe 2.0 and make sure Jerry never has the privilege of wearing the badge again.
