Important thing first… Dad joke from Qasim. You can share but be sure to use #QasimDadJoke

I got some negative feedback about last week's dad jokes.

All I have to say is just because the last one didn’t fly doesn’t mean you have to ostrichcize me.

Note from Qasim:
This week is truly action packed, with events, town halls, and meet and greets in the double digits. I'm looking forward to every single opportunity to engage with our community but I think what I'm most looking forward to is the start of EARLY VOTING on September 18th! Can you believe that it's already time to cast your vote!?

If you are in Virginia, here’s a link to help you find where to early vote

*INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS*

NEW GIRL STAR LAMORNE MORRIS talks about Qasim: Morris, who plays Winston on New Girl, talks about his high school buddy Qasim Rashid in this piece on The Ringer [[link removed]] .

Rashid has given his friend a reading list. After Morris finishes Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Between the World and Me, up next are Samantha Power’s A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide and Ibram X. Kendi’s Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America. “And just try and ask anybody who knows me: ‘Oh, Lamorne hates reading books.’” He laughs for a bit. “But here I am.”

RASHID ON GOP PODCAST: Qasim appeared as a guest on Grand New Podcast which is produced by Bearing Drift, a conservative VA blog. Listen here [[link removed]] .

*UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS*

Qasim's Book Club: How To Be An Antiracist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi (5-week series) Sept 10 - Oct 8 [[link removed]]
We’ll explore a few chapters each week of Dr. Kendi’s comprehensive work on the history of racism and capitalism, and how the two concepts have led to inequality across all spectrums of American life.

Compassion Through Action | An Evening of Black Joy - Sept 27 [[link removed]]
Qasim Rashid’s campaign believes a response is needed in the wake of recent state-supported brutality against Black men and women. Unfortunately, the roll call of names is too long to list here, but we know the most recent victims of senseless, brutal police violence and proudly call their names -- Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisc. and Daniel Prude in Rochester, NY. At the end of this month we will come together in community (thanks to a Zoom event) from VA’s First District, and stretch across the Commonwealth and the country.

While the horror of this attack causes us great anguish, we know that despite the harm caused by terroristic racist power, Black men, women and children persist with a sense of hopefulness and even joy. It is in this spirit of perseverance through the pain - and with the support and encouragement of allies of all races, creeds and religions - that we present Compassion Through Action, An Evening of Black Joy.

Further your investment: What Tino’s trying to fund this week…
Building off of Qasim’s promise of transparency in donation requests, we are going to start telling you what our finance team is looking to support this week. Every dollar given here will go towards this ask and will be put in use immediately this week.[link removed] [[link removed]]

“Our billboards are officially up. It's because of your support that we're able to have them throughout the district! Thank you. Help us keep them up by making a contribution today. Additionally, we are making our last hires this week. Please consider giving to help us grow our team before Nov. 3.” - Tino
