Here’s what we learned from Bob Woodward’s interviews with Donald Trump:

  1. Trump admitted that he “wanted to always play... down” the risks of COVID-19.
  2. Trump knew the virus was “more deadly than even your strenuous flus,” yet in public he compared the virus to the flu and told the American public it would soon disappear.
  3. He was more interested in showing Woodward some “cool” pictures of him with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un than he was about protecting Americans.

The bottom line is: close to 200,000 Americans are dead because of a pandemic that our president purposefully downplayed — despite knowing it to be a deadly, fast-spreading respiratory virus. All because Trump didn’t want to admit there was a problem in the early days when we were still in a position to control the spread — and limit deaths — more effectively.

It’s beyond irresponsible. It’s outright dangerous behavior from the madman currently occupying the White House.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Donald Trump doesn’t deserve to be president for another four minutes, let alone another four years.
