Wayne, Five Adjacent Counties Approved for
Low-Interest Disaster Loans

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has received a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster declaration for flooding that occurred in Wayne County in July, opening up the possibility of low-interest disaster loans for business owners, homeowners, and renters in Wayne County and five adjacent counties.

A preliminary damage assessment found 38 structures in Wayne County with uninsured damage from flooding that occurred July 21, Governor DeWine said in a letter last month requesting the declaration.

This SBA-only declaration is for homeowners, renters, and businesses who have uninsured losses from the July 21 flooding event in Wayne and five adjacent counties: Ashland, Holmes, Medina, Stark, and Summit.

This is the second SBA disaster declaration in Ohio this summer. Auglaize and six adjacent counties were declared in June due to May 17 flooding. Additionally, President Trump declared a major presidential disaster on June 18 for 11 counties impacted by tornadoes, severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and landslides that occurred in May.
