Friends,
Over the last couple of decades, cities, states, and countries across the world have been working to reduce single-use plastic consumption by introducing bans on Styrofoam and plastic bags and straws. But in the blink of an eye, Covid-19 reversed so many of these efforts.
Grocery stores no longer accept reusable bags; coffee shops no longer accept reusable mugs. And on top of this, demand has increased for disposable face masks and plastic gloves. By some estimates, single-use plastic consumption has tripled or quadrupled since lockdowns were imposed in March.
Join us at the virtual Plastic Free Forum on September 26 at 1 p.m. to find out how we can reverse this trend!
This year’s forum has another fantastic lineup of panelists. We’ll hear from
-
Jackie Nuñez, founder of The Last Plastic Straw and advocacy program manager for the Plastic Pollution Coalition
-
Krissee D’Aguiar, chocolate executive officer of River-Sea Chocolates
- And more to be announced!
The panel will be moderated by Jolene Mafnas, Northern Virginia organizer for Food & Water Watch.
Discussion will focus not only on ways we can reduce our own plastic footprints but also on actions we can take to change the systems that create an overabundance of waste. You do not want to miss this important conversation.
Register today to join us for the virtual Plastic Free Forum on September 26 at 1 p.m. RSVP is required to receive the Zoom link.
We’re looking forward to it!
Julie
