Despite what Trump and Desantis might be saying on Twitter, COVID-19 has not gone away, it continues to kill and our failed response continues to hold our economy back.  

COVID-19 has affected our jobs, our economy, our safety, our schools, our small businesses, and our lives.  Because Gov. DeSantis has refused to take meaningful action to get this virus under control, Hillsborough County and Floridians across the state continue to suffer.  Our State Legislature still refuses to meet, even virtually, to address the problem. 

That is not the leadership we need or deserve.

Florida needs leadership that meets the moment. We deserve a science-first COVID plan that addresses the real problems our communities are dealing with every day.

We’d like to share some of Andrew’s COVID recovery plan with you:

• Make testing and contact tracing readily available so we can finally get this virus under control. It's the #1 tool epidemiologists have requested since the first case hit our shores, yet Tallahassee STILL has not made it happen.

• Increase access to quality, affordable health care so those who are sick can get affordable care and limit the spread of the disease further. 

• Provide grants for small businesses to help them survive and keep employees on payroll during this difficult time. Andrew will work to increase funding for these grants.

• Streamline unemployment to ensure those in financial need can cover their essentials like food, car, and rent. Andrew will fight back against re-hiring the company that wasted $187 million taxpayer dollars building an unemployment site that was meant to fail.

• Extend the Emergency Eviction Moratorium for 3 months at a time to provide some stability to renters. Andrew will vote to give renters time to plan for the future.

We need a Representative who takes our situation seriously. The plans considered by Trump and DeSantis, and supported by Andrew's opponent, amount to a strategy of “do nothing.”

You deserve a local government that will actively work to address your concerns and fight to keep your families safe and secure during these unprecedented events. Vote in a responsible COVID-19 plan in November by voting for Andrew Learned for Florida State House.
