Dear John,

Commit to writing 50 letters to voters:

Sign up today!

Today marks 50 days until the election. In the next 50 days, we must reach out
to as many Americans as we can and encourage them to cast their vote.

Let’s not panic, let’s get to work!

Will you write 50 letters to voters in swing states? I promise, it’s simple and
it makes a big difference.

Let’s face it, voting in America has never been easy. And COVID-19 has made it
even more challenging. The obstacles are real. But research shows that when
people receive personalized messages from other people, they are more likely to
make the effort to vote! This gives me hope. It means decency and democracy are
within our reach!

At CCAN we’ve teamed up with an awesome group called Vote Forward. Vote Forward
devised a way for regular Americans to encourage voters, especially those
historically underrepresented, to cast their vote. It’s a person-to-person
letter writing venture — the ultimate in democratic action!

You’ll need a few things to get started: a computer, a printer, envelopes, and
stamps. A day or two after you sign up, you will get an email that will walk you
through the process. Put simply, you’ll “adopt” voters, print out letters, and
write a few sentences about why voting is important to you. Next, place your
letters in envelopes, stamp them, hold onto them until a date in October. It
takes about 15 minutes each from start to finish. Here's a set of instructions that lays it all out very clearly.

With only 50 days until the election, it’s time to start writing. Will you
pledge to writing 50 letters today?

I admit I’m feeling anxious about the election — but writing letters to fellow Americans really helps.

Look, 50 days is not a lot of time. But I’m confident that with a lot of work, a
lot of hope and a lot of letter writing we can reclaim our democracy! Let’s go, we’ve got work to do!

Thanks for all you do,

PS: If you're like me, company helps as well. I’m hosting a letter writing party
tomorrow (Tuesday the 15th). We’ll be watching a documentary and helping our
democracy. Interested in joining? RSVP here.
