The Assault On Normalcy

Yesterday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved a resolution labeling the National Rifle Association a "domestic terrorist organization ([link removed]) ."

This is so insane that one might be tempted to laugh it off. DON'T.

The resolution passed unanimously. This absurd assault on an organization dedicated to defending our constitutional rights wasn't seen as controversial at all. And San Francisco won't be the last "progressive" city to adopt such a resolution.

This is the state of today's progressive/socialist movement. There are those on the left who are determined to punish Americans for normal conservative beliefs. After all, what do you do with "domestic terrorists"?

Think about this, friends. The left won the marriage debate. It succeeded in using the courts to overturn the will of the voters in 30 states that defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

But that wasn't enough. Now "progressives" are trying to financially ruin ([link removed]) anyone who does not want to participate in a same-sex ceremony. They are sore winners.

They are forcing girls ([link removed]) to compete against boys who claim to be girls. Years ago, we warned that it would not be long before the left accused those who believe in traditional values of bigotry and would threaten to remove children from such families. It's happening ([link removed]) .

The left is even trying to equate pro-life values with "white supremacy ([link removed]) ." Somebody should tell that to Ryan Bomberger ([link removed]) , Alveda King ([link removed]) , Kay Cole James ([link removed]) and Star Parker ([link removed]) .

This isn't about winning public policy debates anymore. Sadly, some progressives seem intent on criminalizing normal conservative beliefs.

If you believe in the sanctity of life, you're a bigot.

If you believe in traditional marriage, your business should be destroyed and your kids should be taken away.

If you believe in the Second Amendment and the right to self-defense, you're a terrorist.

And if you believe in all these things, Antifa will "re-educate" you.

The Green New Menace

The radical left is predictably attempting to exploit Hurricane Dorian, a natural disaster, to promote its big government, socialist agenda. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ([link removed]) tweeted this:

"This is what climate change looks like: it hits vulnerable communities first. . . This is about science & leadership. We either decarbonize & cut emissions, or we don't & let people die."

As Ronald Reagan famously said, "There you go again."

The left wants a complete takeover of the economy, and it sees preying on concerns about the environment as a way to do it. But, my friends, the climate alarmists have NEVER BEEN RIGHT ([link removed]'-wild-predictions/) .

If AOC was serious about "carbon-free" energy, she would be serious about nuclear power. But liberals don't support that either.

Dorian is not an evil climate demon that can be tamed by progressive virtue signaling or carbon taxes. Category 5 storms occur naturally. It is now a Category 2 storm that may not even hit the continental U.S.

According to Dr. Roy Spencer ([link removed]) , a real climate scientist, there has been no change in the frequency or intensity of hurricanes over the last 100 years. Contrary to the pontifications of "Professor Ocasio-Cortez," Dorian has nothing to do with "climate change."



Don't Be Fooled

The Green New Deal has nothing to do with climate change either.

Saikat Chakrabarti ([link removed]) , AOC's former chief of staff, recently admitted that, telling a fellow progressive, "[The] Green New Deal . . . wasn't originally a climate thing at all. . . we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing."

Other progressives are more honest ([link removed]) about their intentions, insisting that "If you take climate change seriously, you do have to throw out the free-market playbook."

By the way, if climate change is such an "existential crisis," why aren't ([link removed]) more liberals willing to debate it?

Why are the Obamas buying a $15 million ([link removed]) compound on an island that will get swamped by rising sea levels?

Why aren't other countries "decarbonizing"?

Germany is trying. But it is also heavily dependent on Russia for natural gas (still a carbon-based fuel) and Germans are paying record prices ([link removed]) for electricity. (Are you eager to see your utility bills skyrocket?)

Not surprisingly, Germany is also on the brink of a recession ([link removed]) . Recessions ([link removed]) are very effective at reducing carbon emissions because carbon is a ubiquitous byproduct of economic activity, i.e., rising standards of living or success generally.

One prominent socialist recently praised communist China for alleviating mass poverty. But it was fossil fuels and industrialization that alleviated mass poverty in China. (By the way, China has been building one new coal plant ([link removed]) every week for the past several years.)

Think about the tremendous progress that occurred in just the past 150 years of human history. Virtually all of it was enabled by fossil fuels and the Industrial Age.

The left wants to undo it all! It wants to kill the proverbial Golden Goose. And in its ignorance, the left would impose mass misery on all of us.



Speaking Of China. . .

The latest Harvard poll ([link removed]) has some very interesting findings about the public's view of China. I doubt you'll hear much, if anything at all, about this poll from the mainstream media. Here are some of the results:

* 77% of the public believes China is a currency manipulator.
* The public is split 50/50 on the imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods.
* 60% of the public believes the last few presidents failed to stand up to China and allowed China to take advantage of us.
* 67% said it is "necessary" to confront China over its trade policy.
* And 80% say it is better to deal with China now rather than wait and risk being unable to stop them in the future.
