Safe States Alliance Names AFSP “Partner of the Year”

The Safe States Alliance, a national non-profit organization and professional association whose mission is to strengthen the practice of injury and violence prevention (IVP), has recognized the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as “Partner of the Year.” The award was presented on September 9.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has partnered with the Safe States Alliance for over ten years in a variety of ways to strengthen the practice of injury and violence prevention. Noteworthy examples listed by Safe States Alliance include:
Support for policy priorities across the spectrum of IVP, including suicide prevention and the National Violent Death Reporting System
Active partner in the Injury and Violence Prevention Network and advocacy training and events
Support for the Safe States Annual Conference, including a plenary presentation at the 2019 conference on AFSP’sProject 2025 initiative
<[link removed]> and the bold goal to reduce the annual rate of suicide in the U.S. 20% by 2025
Partnership to enhance suicide and adverse childhood experience prevention during the COVID-19 response and beyond
