Stephen Kent is a libertarian political commentator, entertainment writer and podcast host. In his podcast, Beltway Banthas: Star Wars, Politics & More, he interviews prominent figures from across the political spectrum on the crossover between politics and the Star Wars universe.

Wednesday’s event will consist of a discussion around the political landscape of the Star Wars universe, particularly focusing on how various aspects of the franchise’s political system relate to pro-liberty values. One of the main areas to consider is the decline and fall of the Galactic Republic in the prequel trilogy. We will also look at whether some changes to the Republic’s political system could have prevented it from giving way to the populism and authoritarianism of the Empire.
