The first round of rollbacks to the Endangered Species Act was devastating. The latest round of attacks will irreparably harm even more critically endangered species like Florida panthers and orcas. We need to act fast to protect endangered species. Support Friends of the Earth with a rush $10 donation.
Last week, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service proposed a radical change that modifies the meaning of “habitat” for endangered wildlife. This change prevents protection and restoration in areas that need help to recover animals and plants at risk of extinction.
Habitat loss is the number one cause of species going extinct. For decades, the federal government successfully restored areas of former and potential habitats to support the recovery of endangered species. But now, it’s rolling back those protections. This will only prevent species from thriving and reclaiming their habitats.
Even more alarmingly, these changes would mean that Big Polluters could veto critical habitat protections for endangered species, simply by claiming that it impacts their profit margin.
We can’t let Big Polluters write their own rules and wipe out iconic wildlife in the process. Protect endangered species with a $10 donation to Friends of the Earth.

This attempt to gut the ESA is an underhanded attack to dismantle our nation’s bedrock environmental protections. And it can ultimately cause or exacerbate major public health crises. Decades of scientific studies warn that habitat destruction and biodiversity loss create a risk of zoonotic disease spillover to human populations.
The ESA is one of the most effective tools for not only protecting wildlife, but also human health. Undermining the ESA erodes our ability to protect against future pandemics.
Don’t let Big Polluters gut the Endangered Species Act: Donate $10 or more now!

Endangered wildlife can’t survive if they have no place to live. Climate change is already pushing species -- from corals to polar bears -- to the brink of extinction. We need every tool available to help endangered species make it through.
The latest rollbacks to the ESA represent yet another attempt at a blank-check giveaway to Big Polluters. It would make it easier for them to open critical habitats for exploitation by mining, drilling, and logging companies to destroy already fragile wildlife habitats with impunity.
At Friends of the Earth, we’ve put together a comprehensive strategy to stop the attacks on endangered species, habitats, and public lands -- from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to the Grand Canyon.
And we’re shining a light on who is really benefiting from these attacks -- the fossil fuel industry and its cronies in government. Together with members like you, we’ve been able to secure and retain critical protections for the priceless species and lands that we all cherish.
With new attacks on our wildlife and wild places coming every day, we need to keep the pressure on. We can’t do this without you.
Help us win permanent protections for endangered species and the places they call home. Will you stand with us?
