I'll be honest with you — campaigning is harder than jumping out of airplanes. Out there I knew exactly what my job was. Here, some days it feels like the weight of this whole district is sitting on my shoulders.
Because the Democrats have decided Michigan's 10th is how they take back the House.
Not a seat in California. Not New York. Ours.
My opponent spent nearly every dollar she raised getting through her primary. That means Washington is about to write her a very large check - and Washington's money always comes with Washington's strings attached.
September 30th is our End-of-Quarter deadline.
This isn't just an arbitrary date. It's the LAST end-of-quarter deadline of this campaign. Every deadline I've ever asked you about had another one behind it. This one doesn't.
After the 30th there is no next quarter - there's just the election.
What we raise in the next few days pays for the door-knockers in Sterling Heights, the yard signs across Macomb, and the ads that reach the folks in this district who haven't made up their minds yet.
I'm not going to ask you to dig deep into your pockets.
