I was pretty jealous and enthusiastic when, last month, he won a campaign to shift a full third of the Austin police department's budget into public health, violence prevention, and other social services.

A recent Dallas Morning News poll had Joe Biden and Donald Trump statistically TIED in Texas.

It might sound surprising, but my friend and Austin city council member Greg Casar has shown me that there is a real opportunity for change in Texas, driven by a new generation of progressive Latinx leaders.

But Texas isn’t just a game-changing state for the presidential race. Republican Senator John Cornyn is up for reelection -- you might remember him from tweeting this in March:

Meanwhile, MJ Hegar is a working mom and combat veteran who served three tours in Afghanistan flying helicopters for the U.S. Air Force, successfully changed sexist Pentagon policies, ran for Congress in 2018, and came within inches of an upset win. She’s a fighter who will work hard to win affordable health care, economic opportunity, and a government that works for the people.

With your help, we can elect MJ Hegar, replace Cornyn, end Mitch McConnell’s majority, and make history this November -- and do it all in a way that helps build power for long-term progressive change.
