Dear John,
This Thursday is Constitution Day, and to celebrate, the National Association of Scholars is hosting a week of online events asking a recurring question that continues to re-appear in today's popular discourse: should we place the ideals of liberty or the institution of slavery as the foundation of American history?
Today we're opening our conference at 10:45 am Eastern Time with introductions by Peter W. Wood, President of NAS, and Chuck DeVore, Vice President of National Initiatives at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
At 11:15 am ET, the introduction will be followed by Peter Kirsanow, current Member of the U.S. Commission of Civil Rights. His opening address asks and answers: does "anti-black racism run in the very DNA of this country?"
Will you join us? ([link removed][UNIQID])
Throughout the rest of the week, NAS will bring together dozens of notable historians and scholars from across the nation to answer important questions about America's founding and character. This first-of-its-kind event will feature speakers such as Wilfred Reilly, Paul Rahe, William Allen, and many more. Don't miss out on this historic event!
The conference will be streamed online every day from today, September 14th to this Friday, September 18th. Each panel and lecture will be recorded, so if you miss it, you can always watch it later. You can view the schedule and sign up to attend here ([link removed][UNIQID]) !
I hope you will be able to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime event ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Yours,
Peter Wood
President
