John,

Over the past four years, we’ve been on the ground in Dilley, Texas representing thousands of families at the largest family detention center in the country. This has allowed us unprecedented access to families transferred from the border and enabled us to uncover the unjust—and frankly, alarming—treatment children suffered while detained.

Today we filed a complaint with government oversight agencies and demanded the FBI step in immediately. It details firsthand information collected from 200 detained mothers about the horrific conditions they faced in custody at the border.

Donate today to make sure we can continue to provide this critical oversight.

These families’ stories are disturbing. Young children spent days with fevers, vomiting, and diarrhea. They saw one mother—returned to government custody after giving birth—left with no choice but to lay her newborn down on a mylar blanket covering a filthy concrete slab. Yet immigration officials did nothing—and even denied her requests for immediate medical attention.

Please support our work to end the inhumane treatment of children.

I'll make a gift now

Your contribution will:

  • Support free legal services to detained mothers and their children.
  • Fund lawsuits to hold the government accountable.
  • Demand immediate oversight to improve access to medical services in custody at the border.

Our nation can do better—and we must ensure these children are not forgotten.

Sincerely,

Beth Werlin
Executive Director
