Protecting the U.S. Postal Service is literally a matter of life and death for millions of Americans – and still, the GOP is sitting by and allowing Trump to let this vital service fail. We cannot let them get away with it.

Think about this: The USPS provides critical access to care for our elderly, veterans and rural communities. It manages 1.2 billion prescription drug shipments each year, including medications Americans rely on to keep them healthy and alive. The USPS delivers paychecks, groceries and – especially critical this year – ballots, all while providing 600,000 jobs.

Yet despite all that, Trump has refused to rise to the occasion and protect his fellow Americans – and now, the USPS is on the verge of bankruptcy. He doesn't want Democrats to vote, so he's sabotaging our Postal Service.

I did not get into public service to hold institutions hostage when they make my job harder. I did it to help others, not myself. Protecting the USPS shouldn't be a partisan issue, but Republicans would like to make it one.

That's why we urgently need to beat back these attacks – and we can, but only if all of us stand together in this fight to save our democracy.
