John —

Today on Grandparents' Day, we honor all of the grandparents in our lives — both those who have passed and those still with us.

To celebrate, we’re highlighting the stories of exonerees who are grandparents and what that role has meant to them.

We’re talking about people like John Nolley, who held his granddaughter for the first time on the steps of the Tarrant County Criminal Court in Fort Worth, Texas, after spending 19 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And Leroy Harris, who is now relishing his freedom and enjoying spending time with his grandchildren after spending 28 years in prison on a wrongful conviction.

If you have a moment today, read their stories and more as we dedicate this day to the wise, loving grandparents in our lives.

Thanks,

— The Innocence Project Team
