Team, Thea from Team Welch here. Did you know that only one woman currently holds statewide office in Vermont? It’s the amazing Beth Pearce, our State Treasurer who I was fortunate enough to work for. Our state has work to do to bridge the gap, and that’s where Emerge Vermont comes in. I took part in their Signature Training Program in 2017, sharpening my campaign skills and making one-on-one connections with powerful, like-minded women. Above all, Emerge Vermont made me confident in the knowledge that there’s a place for all of us to make our own impact in Vermont’s political sphere, whatever our age, background, or socioeconomic status. Applications for Emerge Vermont’s Class of 2021 are still open through September 21. If you’ve ever thought of running for public office, or have a woman in your life who you think really should, make sure you look into Emerge Vermont’s Signature Training Program. Trust me, you won’t find a more impressive group of mentors, or a more inspiring group of peers. Whether it’s learning how to fundraise or shaking your impostor syndrome for good, my Emerge sisters and I built each other up every step of the way. Since then, I’ve taken what I’ve learned and put it to good use on Team Welch. Peter’s always supported my goals and been a champion of Emerge’s mission—both in elevating the organization and embracing Emerge’s ideals of inclusion, equity, and diversity in his own staff every day. I’m so thankful for my experience with Emerge Vermont. It seems like every day, I hear about one of my Emerge sisters doing something incredible. I can’t wait to see what the Class of 2021 gets up to. Be sure to apply before September 21! Let’s do it, Thea
