Last year, our investigator went back inside Cooke Aquaculture's salmon hatchery in Bingham, Maine, the same facility we exposed once before in the first undercover investigation ever done at a U.S. fish farm.

Our investigator found continued cruelty six years later: Fish clubbed with metal bars. Cut open while their hearts were still beating. Left to suffocate in garbage bags.

Cooke supplies the salmon Hannaford supermarket sells as "True North." So, we asked them to pull it from their shelves. We wrote to Hannaford directly, and so did thousands of you.

Hannaford just wrote back, saying they "immediately engaged" with Cooke.

** Fool us once, shame on Cooke...
------------------------------------------------------------

Here's what Hannaford told us and what we think is missing.

Hannaford’s Claim: Cooke gave them a report.

Reality: No independent Hannaford inspector ever went into that hatchery to verify it.

Hannaford’s Claim: Cooke gave them a corrective action plan.

Reality: No specific change was actually named in Hannaford’s letter.

Hannaford’s Claim: Cooke promised updates.

Reality: A promise from the same company that failed to change for six years isn't oversight.

** We don't think any of that is good enough. And we don't think you do either.
------------------------------------------------------------

Hannaford answers to customers across the Northeast who care about animals, and that means they answer to you. A company that responds to a formal complaint like this hasn't heard from enough people yet.

So here's what actually moves them: a short, direct message from you. Takes under two minutes.👇

P.S. Six years ago, after our first investigation into this same facility, Martha Stewart's brand walked away from True North salmon. It worked once. It can work again, but only if enough of us say something.
