There's a rule every young Army officer learns fast: leaders eat last.

Your soldiers go through the chow line first. You eat after every one of them
has.

When I commanded a 143-soldier air assault rifle company in the 101st
Airborne, that wasn't a slogan. It was the job. Your people come first. Always.

Washington has it backwards.

Too many politicians take care of themselves first, and get around to the
people who sent them there when it's convenient.
