Hi there, friend. I’m Zoe, Deb’s sister.

I’ve had a front-row seat to the person Deb has become. I’ve watched her grow from the little sister I knew into a mother, a small-business owner, a Congresswoman, a Cabinet Secretary, and now a candidate for Governor of New Mexico.

I couldn’t be prouder of her — and I hope you’ll chip in $5 today to help my little sister become New Mexico’s next Governor.

There’s a passage in Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer about the three sisters: corn, beans, and squash. It describes how each plant grows, and like sisters, each finds their own path. They all make room for one another and contribute something different to the good of the whole. 

When I read it, I immediately thought of me and my sisters. And I especially thought of our baby sister, Deb.

Deb has never been a selfish person. She has always thought about what she could contribute, who she could help, and what would be best for the whole. That’s something I’ve seen in her for as long as I can remember.

I think that’s part of what makes her such an incredible leader.

In finding her own path, Deb has already broken barriers that people told us were impossible. She became one of the first Native American women elected to Congress and then the first Native American Cabinet Secretary in our nation’s history.

Now, she has the chance to make history again as the first Native American woman ever elected Governor. 

And as her big sister, I have just one thing to say: I know there is no one better to lead New Mexico.

I’ve been proud of Deb through every chapter of her life, but nothing would make me prouder than seeing her take on this next chapter and lead the state we love. So please, chip in whatever you can today and help her become New Mexico’s next Governor.
