Let me be clear about what's happening in our country right now.
We have a President who treats our democracy with utter contempt. We have a Republican Party that — faced with a record they can't defend — decided to rig the rules instead. In Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, Florida, and beyond, they redrew their congressional maps mid-decade for one reason: to lock in power that voters were about to take away from them.
I chaired Maryland's redistricting advisory commission. We held public meetings across our state. We heard from hundreds of Marylanders. And what I heard, again and again, was this: Marylanders don't want to sit on the sidelines while other states rig the game against us.
Because when red states rig their maps, they don't just disenfranchise their own voters — they cancel out yours too. They decide the balance of power in Congress before a single Marylander casts a ballot.
This November, we finally get our chance to fight back.
Question 3 is on your ballot. This amendment will align Maryland's congressional redistricting rules with other states across the country — giving Maryland voters more power to respond to MAGA map-rigging by red states with our own redrawn congressional maps.
That's it. That's the question: should Maryland voters have the same power other states already have — or should we stand by while MAGA rigs the Congress that governs all of us?
I know where I stand. At a moment when other states are moving aggressively to redraw their maps, Maryland has a responsibility to lead with urgency.
So today I'm asking you directly: Add your name. Pledge to vote YES on Question 3 this November.When you do, our team will make sure you have everything you need — your polling place, your mail ballot options, and the facts to bring your friends and neighbors along with you.
Maryland deserves a map that represents the will of the people. And that decision belongs to Maryland voters — not Donald Trump, and not MAGA politicians in Texas.
