John,

September 11th is a day permanently etched on the mind of every American.

And in the days and weeks following the attacks, we experienced a level of national unity unlike any other in our lifetimes. Republicans, Democrats, and independents alike all rallied behind our troops and our brave first responders, the heroes who came to the rescue. We can never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, nor those who still bear the lasting scars of that day.

This is why it's hard to comprehend how Tom McClintock voted no on the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which provides health support and financial aid to the first responders and survivors of the September 11th attacks. And he didn't just vote no once -- he voted no three times.

Tom wasn't there for the Americans who needed him most. And he certainly isn’t there for them now.

Tom McClintock's disregard for our heroes hasn't gone away. He cowered in silence when federal funds were illegally diverted away from the frontline responders battling California wildfires. He was equally silent when credible reports emerged of Russian agents paying bounties to terrorists that kill American troops overseas. And from voting against funding to expand fire services, to voting against support for deployed soldiers and military widows, he has failed them time and again.

If our heroic first responders and troops can't count on Tom McClintock, who can?

John, the answer is: no one. Tom doesn't vote in the best interests of our district, let alone the best interests of his fellow Americans -- heroes, no less. This November, let's unite to vote him out. You deserve better, our district deserves better, and our nation deserves better.

Thank you,
