Brandt, I’m a lifelong North Carolinian — a proud Lexington native, UNC alum, former state senator, a veteran, and a proud husband and father. So, when I take the stage for my first debate with Thom Tillis on Monday night, you can bet that my North Carolina story will be at the heart of my message.

Since day one of our campaign, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with folks across the state, hearing about the opportunities and challenges they face. So often, the stories they tell me hit close to home, reminding me of my family, friends, and neighbors.

As North Carolinians, our shared experiences and hopes for our state — for the next generation — have no boundaries, uniting us and providing a path forward. And on Monday, when I face off with Thom Tillis for our first debate, I will share what that path looks like with the people of North Carolina.

I’ll be talking about my plans to address the most pressing issues facing us, including expanding access to safe and affordable health care, ensuring all students have the resources they need to learn and grow, and supporting our state’s veterans and military families.

But this race is shaping up to be the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history — and as I focus my energy on preparing for the debate, I need to know that our campaign’s funding is secure.

That’s why we’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000 this weekend. I know it’s a lot to ask, but if everyone reading this email chips in just a few dollars, we’ll reach it in no time:

North Carolina has already begun distributing mail-in ballots, making us the very first voters in the general election. This is exciting — but it also highlights the importance of moving quickly. So chip in today if you can.

The future of our state is on the line, and I need you in this fight now more than ever, Brandt. Thank you.
