John,
Believe it or not, a plurality of voters STILL think Donald Trump is doing a good job managing the economy—and would do a better job on the economy than Joe Biden. But the gap is narrowing, and that shows our efforts to get the truth out to voters is working.
We can’t stop now, because as long as voters prefer Trump on the economy, he can still win.

Thank you for your crucial support,

Dear John,
Donald Trump may be trailing in most polls right now, but there's one big issue he is winning: the economy.
And that's a big problem, because as long as Americans trust Donald Trump to do a better job on the economy, he still can win reelection.
Now, you might be wondering, with over 13 million Americans out of work, how is it possible that Trump is winning on the economy?
Well, here's what people are telling pollsters. First, they figure that before the pandemic, the economy was really strong. Second, they say it's unfair to blame Trump for the economic downturn caused by COVID-19, because that could've happened to any president.
Both of those arguments are seriously flawed, and we need to make sure that Americans know the truth before it's too late.

The economy was not great before the pandemic. Quite the opposite. By the most important measures that affect regular people, Trumponomics was a disaster. Jobs are going overseas faster than ever. Wages are flat, despite soaring corporate profits. Trump said he'd pay off the national debt in eight years, but instead, his tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy exploded the deficit.
And there is no reason why the coronavirus recession has to be as deep and painful as it's been. Every other developed country has been able to reopen their economy, restart schools safely, and bring the virus under control.
Only in the United States did our president know about the deadliness of the virus and choose to do nothing while actively downplaying it to the public. Only in the United States are we stuck at square one—with a death toll nearing 200,000 people.
But if people don't know these facts, Trump could pull off another last-minute victory. In fact, it's almost painfully predictable how it would happen: A week or two before the election, Trump announces that there's been a miracle cure or a vaccine breakthrough. The corporate media breathlessly reports the biggest news of the year. And voters, trusting Trump to rebuild the economy, hand him a narrow reelection.
That's why we need to explain why Trump is the last president people should trust to rebuild America.
We have spent the last four years building one of the largest social media followings of any progressive organization in the country. Now it is absolutely imperative that we correct the misconception that Trump has done a good job on the economy before it's too late.
