Email from Friends of John McGuire View as Webpage Early Voting Starts Today Please remind your friends to vote: today is the first day of early voting in Virginia. Recommended Votes: -Re-elect John McGuire to Congress -Bert Mizusawa US Senate Since January 2025, my team and I have helped negotiate roughly $20 billion in investment into Virginia’s Fifth District, creating about 7,000 well-paying jobs. My team and I have returned over $10 million owed by the federal government directly back to the people it belonged to. We passed the Wintergreen Emergency Egress Act, a bill that six previous 5th District congressmen failed to move through a subcommittee for over 25 years. It is now in the Senate, where it passed the full committee unanimously. And I was proud to spearhead the effort, working with Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao, to finally deliver a Navy and Marine Corps ROTC program at Liberty University starting this year, something the university has pursued since 1971. We also worked personally with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to help get 57 of our constituents home from Israel when ballistic missiles were raining down across the country. Two hundred fifty years ago, our Founding Fathers built this country on the Bible, and we are fighting to keep that foundation strong. House Republicans have worked with President Trump to strengthen our economy, support American workers, secure our border, rebuild the military, and unleash American energy. We are building 10 miles of wall per day. We delivered the largest investment in rural hospitals by far, $50 billion. We passed the Working Families Tax Cuts (the One Big Beautiful Bill), delivering No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and historic tax relief for seniors with a $6,000 deduction. The Patriot Industries CEO in Louisa County told Kelly Loufler and me that no tax on overtime is clearly working because he sees higher-quality employee cars in the parking lot. And my wife Tracy loves it that we are at a roughly 125-year low in the murder rate across our country. If Democrats win, they will undo all of that. My fellow Virginians, early voting starts today. My opponent touts his woke carbon-credit climate-change agenda, has ties to George Soros-funded open-border policies, and brags about being the deciding vote in the House for Obamacare, the terrible, unaffordable care act. I need you to vote. So mark your calendars. Vote Republican up and down the ballot and let’s keep America winning. And if you want a yard sign, want to volunteer, or want to donate, go to mcguireva.com. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America! Here is news and some of what we have been up to: How to Lower Fuel Costs FYI: The United States is producing more crude oil than ever (record levels in 2025 and expected again in 2026), but refining capacity has declined due to recent plant closures and decades of regulatory barriers by Green New Deal (SCAM) type policies that have prevented construction of major new refineries. I sent a letter to President Trump asking him to consider a state of emergency and to significantly streamline the NEPA permitting process so we can build and expand domestic refining capacity faster. Without adequate refining capacity, even tripling our crude production wouldn't mean lower diesel, gasoline, and other fuel prices for American consumers. A Heartbreaking Day Tuesday September 16, was a tough, heartbreaking day. My best friend and childhood friend since middle school, George Vassey, lost his fight with cancer. This reality stings like nothing else and is a reminder, make sure we hug our loved ones. Every day is a gift, but not a guarantee. We went through so much together in high school. We were in the Sea Cadets, took karate taught by a Vietnam Green Beret, and shared a love of motorcycles, motorcycle racing, and an interest in serving our country in the military. We famously rode our bicycles from Richmond, Virginia to West Virginia and back. In our spare time we played paintball in the woods with a bunch of Vietnam veterans as part of our preparation to one day serve our country in the US military. In High School, George's mom would make us sloppy Joes while we took turns reading different Psalms. After graduation, I went on to become a Navy SEAL while George became a Navy Corpsman assigned to Marine recon teams. George is survived by his wife Gina and his son George. We’ve lost several people this year who made a real impact on my life and on so many others to cancer. Please continue to keep Gina and the family in your prayers. Rest easy, brother. George is with our Lord and Savior now. You’ll always be remembered. An Incredible Two Days in Dallas! What an incredible two days in Dallas! The first-ever Republican Midterm Convention was pure energy, unity, and America First strength. From the moment we walked into the American Airlines Center in Dallas, you could feel the excitement of thousands of patriots from every state, ready to fight for our country. One of the best parts was running into so many friends, old and new, from all over Virginia including VA 05 and around the country. More photos here Never Forget Charlie Kirk One year ago, a bright light was senselessly taken from us by pure evil. Charlie Kirk gave people who disagreed with him a real voice and a genuine chance to debate their views at the mic. For that courage, for standing firm in open discussion, he was assassinated. No one in my lifetime has better articulated our pro American, conservative, and Christian values. His wisdom, clarity, and passion will live on through the ages. His legacy and impact on others was mentioned often this week at the republican midterm convention in Dallas. We are praying for his wife Erika and their two young children, who have endured unbelievable criticism while carrying this unimaginable loss. Never forget Charlie Kirk. His light still shines. Louisa County GOP Committee Meeting I recently visited the Louisa County GOP committee meeting. We discussed my reelection, our strong U.S. Senate candidate Bert Mizusawa for US Senate - Virginia, the terrible amendments being pushed, the the upcoming 5th District GOP Chair Convention on August 14 to elect Ramona Christian for VA-05 District Chair. Virginia Tech vs. Virginia Military Institute Football Game Had a wonderful time last night at the Virginia Tech vs. Virginia Military Institute football game with my wife Tracy, my favorite Hokie! Both are great Virginia schools, and it was so much fun catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. I ran into folks from just about every county in Virginia’s 5th District. The tailgate was a blast, the atmosphere was fun, and the music was fantastic, especially that epic opening mix of the famous Virginia Tech fight song with “Sandman.” The whole night felt like one big party. A special thank you to the Commandant, Corps of Cadets, Virginia Tech & the Corps of Cadets for letting me do push-ups on the board out on the field after the first touchdown. That was an absolute highlight! We discussed my reelection, our strong U.S. Senate candidate Bert Mizusawa for US Senate - Virginia, the terrible amendments being pushed, and the upcoming 5th District GOP Chair Convention on August 14 to elect Ramona Christian for VA-05 District Chair. Goochland County Republican Committee I recently stopped by the Goochland County Republican Committee meeting where we discussed my reelection, our strong U.S. Senate candidate Bert Mizusawa for US Senate - Virginia, the terrible amendments being pushed, and the upcoming 5th District GOP Chair Convention on August 14 to elect Ramona Christian for VA-05 District Chair. Benedictine Football Stopped by Benedictine Schools of Richmond in Goochland County (Virginia’s 5th District) last Saturday to watch the Cadets play and cheer them on. Benedictine’s mission is to form Cadets as Christian men of conscience, discipline, and achievement. That mission shows up every day, on the field, in the classroom, and through the leadership program. Parents looking for a school that develops the whole young man, faith, character, academics, and leadership, while surrounding him with a strong brotherhood and competitive athletics will find it here. Benedictine prepares boys to become men of purpose. As part of the Benedictine Schools of Richmond, Cadets also benefit from their close connection with sister school Saint Gertrude High School. The two schools share campus life, traditions, and a broader Catholic community while maintaining their distinct single-sex programs. Go Cadets! Dr. Oz Recently, Dr. Mehmet Oz made a few stops in Virginia’s 5th District with Congressman John McGuire. We discussed the real challenges facing rural healthcare. We caught up with Brooke, a former SEAL Team PT fitness member who trained my team and I. She appeared on the Dr. Oz Show a few times and went on to win a national weight loss competition back in the day. She ended up losing 160 pounds, remarried, ran a half marathon, and so much more. She credited Dr. Oz and me for helping change her life, a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people work together as a team. Happy Birthday Dad Age 85 Happy 85th Birthday to my Dad on September 3rd, John Joseph McGuire Jr.! Dad is an Army veteran, father of five, grandfather of 22, and one of the biggest-hearted people I know. We came from humble beginnings, and our family faced some hard times, including my time in foster care. But Dad fought hard to turn his life around and has positively impacted many lives. In one remarkable week, a week we call a week of redemption, in November 2024, the week President Donald J. Trump was re-elected, my Dad celebrated 41 years sober, my younger brother was promoted to Brigadier General, and I was elected to Congress. My brother and I told Dad: If you hadn't fought so hard to get sober, my brother wouldn't be a general and I wouldn't be a Congressman. His courage changed the course of our family and generations to come. Every family has its ups and downs, but throughout your life, you have always been there for others and put your family first. Even as you face some very difficult health challenges, know we are here for you. We love you more than words could ever express. Happy 85th Birthday, Dad! Oliver Anthony Concert at Longwood University Tracy and I recently spent a special evening together at the Oliver Anthony concert at Longwood University in Farmville, right in the heart of Virginia’s 5th Congressional District. Campaigning has kept us apart more than we’d like, which made the evening together even more meaningful. We loved seeing so many friends and neighbors from across the 5th District, catching up with familiar faces, and meeting new ones. Oliver closed the show with his powerful anthem, “Rich Men North of Richmond,” the song he released in 2023 that resonated deeply with so many hardworking Americans during the Biden administration. But a powerful moment came after the music because Oliver invited a preacher to share the Gospel, and do by baptisms. Moments like that are a powerful reminder of what matters most: faith, family, community, and serving others. Congratulations Hung Cao [link removed] to our friend and fellow Navy Veteran Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao for being nominated for Secretary of the Navy. Happy Anniversary Tracy Happy Anniversary to my beautiful wife, Tracy. She is so much more than my wife. She is an incredible mom to our five amazing children, my best friend, my favorite real estate agent, my favorite artist, my biggest supporter, and the woman I’m so blessed to walk through life with. Her love for the Lord, her deep commitment to her faith and Bible study, and the way she pours herself into our family inspire me every single day. I know I could never work as hard as I do serving our community as the Congressman without her by my side. Her love, encouragement, sacrifice, and quiet strength make it possible for me to do what I do. And what a life we’ve had together so far. From changing thousands of lives at our company SEAL Team PT, to Spartan Races and marathons, skydiving, earning her motorcycle license, shooting every type of gun, hiking everywhere, knocking out countless push-ups side by side, and every adventure in between, she has always been willing to jump in and experience life with me. Through it all, the best part has always been doing it together. I’m looking forward to many more adventures, memories, laughs, and years with her. Happy Anniversary, Tracy. I am truly blessed to have you in my life. Lynchburg Arms and Indoor Shooting Range Had a great time at Lynchburg Arms and Indoor Shooting Range. Lynchburg Arms and Indoor Range has been a staple in the local firearms and shooting community since 2010. Got to talk with folks about the upcoming election and what’s at stake. Appreciate everyone who came out and shared their thoughts. Fluvanna County GOP Committee I had the pleasure of speaking with the Fluvanna Republicans at the Fluvanna County GOP Committee. Thank you to Chairman Barbara Haines allowing me to address your team. We discussed the work being done in Washington and right here at home, covering a wide range of issues important to the 5th District. We also discussed signing up to be a delegate now so you can vote for Ramona Christian for VA-05 District Chair at the convention on November 14th. Fluvanna High football For football fans, this is a great time of the year. At the Fluvanna High football game, the Flucos took care of business and beat Spotsylvania 44-36 in a fun, high-scoring one. Great energy in the stands, even more on the field. Shook a ton of hands and enjoyed speaking with parents and coaches. Nelson County GOP Committee I had the pleasure of speaking with the Nelson County GOP Committee. Thank you to Chairman Michael Hevener for the invitation and for your continued support. We discussed the work being done in Washington and right here at home, covering a wide range of issues important to the 5th District. I especially enjoyed the one-on-one conversations about the district and the upcoming midterms. Monument Terrace in Lynchburg Virginia is home to more than 600,000 veterans, ranking among the highest concentrations of veterans per capita in the entire United States. I spoke to a crowd of veterans at Monument Terrace in Lynchburg, the historic downtown memorial that has long stood as a gathering place for those who served. I thanked these men and women for their service and sacrifice. We discussed the work being done in Washington and right here at home to support our veterans, our military, and hard-working Americans in Virginia’s 5th District and across our nation. Flock Cameras University of Virginia Football Season Opener Had an absolute blast at the University of Virginia season opener with my wife Tracy! New quarterback Beau Pribula looked sharp in his debut as the Hoos rolled past NC State 34-8. Beau Pribula wears #7 for Virginia. Spent the whole game walking around Scott Stadium talking with fans and shaking hands, the energy was electric. Wahoowa! Way to go Hoos! What a way to start the season. Did you know UVA is right here in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District? Click here for more photos Division II Majors State Champions In Buckingham County I had the chance to speak with Virginia’s 2026 DYB Division II Majors State Champions. Huge congratulations to these young athletes on their hard-earned title. Just as important, thank you to the parents, coaches, teachers, and staff who invest so much in preparing our young people not just for the game, but for life. We are proud of you! Early Morning Lynchburg Trump Winery with the Women of the Constitution We are working hard to get out the vote all over the district. My wife Tracy and I were in Albemarle County at the incredibly beautiful Trump Winery with the Women of the Constitution, Charlottesville. Thank you for allowing Ramona Christian for VA-05 District Chair and me to speak about the midterms, the amendments, and the November 14th 5th District GOP Chair Convention. Navy and Marine ROTC Liberty University It really is amazing what we can achieve when we put God first, set our differences aside, treat people with respect, and work as a team. I've been told Liberty University wanted a Navy and Marine ROTC program since they were founded in 1971. Finally, we are making that happen. You can stand firm on conservative values and still get things done. In the General Assembly, my team and I solved problems others said couldn’t be solved, and we passed bills every year with every Republican and every Democrat voting yes. Now in Congress, we’re doing the same thing: solving problems and passing bills with bipartisan support. Thank you University of Virginia, Liberty University, Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao, and the U.S. Navy for helping us make this long awaited goal a reality. I'm looking forward to delivering this signed agreement to Liberty University Friday! Click here for the story National Federation of Independent Business Proud to earn the endorsement on my birthday of the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading voice for small business. As a 28-year small business owner, I know what it takes to make payroll, deal with regulations, and keep the lights on. That’s why I fight every day in Congress to cut red tape, keep energy costs down, and give Main Street the certainty it needs to grow. My opponent has a very different record. Tom Perriello not only voted for the 2009 cap-and-trade "climate change" bill that would have driven up energy prices on Virginia manufacturers, farmers, and small business owners, he proudly defended that vote. That same big-government climate approach later became the model for the Green New Deal: higher costs and more control from Washington. He also voted for Obamacare "the unaffordable care act" and has repeatedly said he has no regrets, even though it cost him his seat. For many small businesses, that law brought higher health insurance costs and new mandates. Healthcare premiums and deductibles for individuals also continue to rise significantly every year since. He backed the 2009 stimulus that added hundreds of billions in new debt while our district continued to struggle with jobs, and he voted with Nancy Pelosi roughly 90% of the time on the major economic bills of that Congress. I have a 100% voting record with NFIB because I believe small businesses should keep more of what they earn and compete without Washington stacking the deck against them. Virginia’s small businesses deserve a partner in Congress who has actually lived their challenges, not another politician who keeps voting for more regulations and higher costs. We can’t afford Tom Perriello. Say no thank you, join the team, and vote John McGuire.
