I can’t believe the September 11th attacks on our country were 19 years ago.
Now, reflecting on that day, my heart breaks for all the lives lost and all the
first responders who put their lives on the line to help however they could.
I’m thinking of all the families who lost loved ones and all the broken hearts
that will never fully be whole again.
19 years ago, we were attacked, but we also proved that love is stronger than
hate. We came together as a country to collectively grieve and bring our
communities together. We opened our hearts and helped our neighbors. That’s
what our country is when we’re at our best -- a country full of people looking
out for one another.
We come together in times of need, and while a lot has changed in the past 19
years, that remains true. We come together when our friends and neighbors are
hurting. The blind partisanship and damaging rhetoric we see today makes it
hard to believe we can still come together. But this November, we have a chance
to elect new leaders to Congress who will put people first.
Thinking of all those mourning today and all those who carry around the weight
of loss and trauma. You’re in my heart today and always.
Yours,
Audrey Denney
