For the attention of supporters in Northern Ireland
Dear
SPUC supporter,
I am writing to let you know about an important pro-life event taking place in Belfast city centre on Monday 28th September. As you’ve probably heard, earlier this month Belfast City Council voted by 36 to 18 to commemorate “International Safe Abortion Day ([link removed]) ”.
On 1st September, members of Sinn Féin, the SDLP, Alliance, People Before Profit and the Green Party ignored considerable public opposition by backing a proposal to light up the City Hall in a sickening celebration of abortion. Needless to say, abortion is never safe for unborn children. However, Belfast’s pro-abortion councillors have also sought to ban pro-life outreach in the city centre, thereby denying women the chance to hear about the significant psychological harm that often follows abortion.
According to official Department of Health statistics, a total of 11,215 abortions have been recorded in Northern Ireland since unborn children were stripped of legal protection in October 2019.
In response to the council’s decision, and to commemorate the loss of over 11,000 unborn children, SPUC is encouraging everyone in the greater Belfast area to join the demonstration planned for 28th September. All those wishing to take part should assemble at the Bank Buildings (Primark’s flagship store) in Castle Place at 6.15 pm. From there we will proceed to the City Hall.
This is an important public witness to send a message to Belfast City Council and all of Northern Ireland’s pro-abortion politicians that the killing of innocent children is not something to be celebrated.
Please let us know – via the link below – if you’re coming:

In the run-up to next year’s Stormont elections, it is essential to hold pro-abortion political parties to account. I hope, therefore, that you will not only come along and join us but will also encourage your family and friends to do the same.
With the very best of wishes,
Liam Gibson
Policy and Legal Officer
