Gov. Beshear: $10.4 Million in Federal FEMA Reimbursements Secured for Multiple Flooding Events

Funding was obligated by the federal government
for flooding events in 2022 and 2025

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Today, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that his administration has secured more than $10.4 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster funds to reimburse the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management (KYEM), Kentucky State Parks, Fort Boonesborough, and Breathitt, Carroll, and Owsley counties for expenses incurred during flooding events in 2022 and 2025.

“These are dollars Kentucky was owed from multiple federally declared weather disasters over the years, and my administration has worked hard to ensure this essential support is delivered as we continue to recover and rebuild,” said Gov. Beshear. “From the 2022 floods in Eastern Kentucky to flooding events in February and April of last year, the impacts were widespread and devastating, and these dollars will make a difference.”

The funding obligations were made under DR-4663 for the summer of 2022; DR-4860, declared on Feb. 24, 2025; and DR-4864, declared on April 24, 2025. Reimbursements include:

  • $9.4 million to KYEM for flooding in the summer of 2022;
  • $637,945.23 to Breathitt County for flooding in February 2025;
  • $232,900 to Kentucky State Parks, Fort Boonesborough for flooding in April 2025;
  • $213,910.97 to Carroll County for flooding in April 2025; and
  • $117,849.58 to Owsley County for flooding in April 2025.

How To Help Survivors: The Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund was established to serve survivors of severe weather events and natural disasters. As with previous relief funds, these dollars will first help pay for victims’ funeral expenses. To donate, click here.
