I was teaching in Brooklyn, NY on September 11th, 2001. From our middle school we could see the towers on fire. I’ll never forget the horrors of that day and how it impacted my students and their families.
I also remember how the community came together in the days that followed, to support each other and demand peace and justice.
We honor the heroes of 9/11, who gave their lives as they fought to protect and serve our community. Firefighters and police officers, flight attendants and countless individuals, so many people who stepped up without being asked. Their example, and their ultimate sacrifice, should inspire us all.
If you lost a family member or loved one 19 years ago, or as a result of the terrorist acts that day, please know that we are with you.
My campaign and I share our love and solidarity, and our commitment to fight for a better world.
With love and respect,
Mike Siegel
