Texas Values Leads Effort to Protect Texas Kids, SBOE Vote Expected Today

The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) continues to meet this week with a first reading vote on revising the Science and Health TEKS expected today. As testimony and debate has continued throughout this week, our policy team has testified and continues to monitor the meeting today (you can watch the livestream here). Thank you to our over 9,000 supporters who have already contacted their SBOE member!

Your engagement and the testimony of our team helped ensured the draft for first reading is abstinence focused and includes the advantages of abstinence from sexual activity. But, Leftist activist groups and media continue to aggressively lobby for pro-LGBTQ amendments to the final draft of the Health TEKS and in support of further politicization of the Science TEKS. Protecting Christian Lawyers

Members of the Texas Values team testified this week against a State Bar of Texas proposed rule (8.4(g)) for Texas lawyers that would punish Christian lawyers for their Biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality. This proposed rule is a political effort by LGBTQ advocates to shut down debate and effectively “cancel” lawyers who have opposing views. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and State Rep. Matt Krause also issued statements against the proposed rule.

Abby Johnson Joins Program

On the most recent edition of our weekly radio show the Texas Values Report, host Jonathan Saenz was joined by Pro-Life Advocate and Former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, who will speak at our 2020 Policy Forum.
