Working families across the country are being squeezed from every direction.
Groceries, housing, and healthcare costs keep rising, but wages haven't kept up.



Instead of fighting for working families, the Trump administration and its
allies in Congress continue to advance policies that benefit the super-rich at
the expense of everyone else. And after17 years without raising the federal
minimum wage, Congress is still failing to ensure workers earn enough to keep
up with the cost of living. Working people are being asked to do more with less.

But there is reason for hope. While federal policies fall short, states are
showing what’s possible.



Across the country, workers and advocates are winning real progress. Oxfam's
new Best States to Work Index shows where states (and D.C., and Puerto Rico)
are stepping up for workers and where they still have work to do. California,
D.C., and New York have passed laws that raise wages, strengthen worker
protections, and support the right to organize. Others like North Carolina,
Alabama, and Mississippi, have failed to act and left workers and families
behind.



No one's ability to earn a fair wage or support their family should depend on
