Dear Friend,
In New South Wales, a teenage girl has passed away. Police suspect her death was the result of strangulation during sexual intercourse.
A 2024 survey found that most adults between the ages of 18-35 have experienced sexual strangulation (57%) or have strangled a partner (51%). Otherwise known as “choking,” sexual strangulation has been sold to our youth as a common sexual practice.
Why? Blame pornography.
Dangerous, degrading, and painful behaviors – such as choking, spitting, and slapping – are all over mainstream pornography sites. This, in turn, makes them a normal part of young people’s sexual experiences.
And they’re dying because of it.
While many young people view choking as normal and even positively, research shows there’s actually no “safe” way to choke someone. Because choking prevents oxygen from getting to the brain, not only can it result in death, but it can result in long-term brain damage, even stroke.
When kids turn to pornography as their sexual education, harmful behaviors, like choking, become routine.
This is why we must protect children from being exposed to online pornography. Take action below and call on your legislators to require pornography sites to age verify users!
