After decades of campaigning by Survival supporters like you, the uncontacted Kawahiva people in Brazil are finally on the brink of having their land fully recognized and protected. Will you help persuade President Lula to take that final step?

Survival supporters, Indigenous organizations and other allies have been calling for this recognition in the face of fierce opposition from politicians, who have fought hard to keep the Kawahiva’s land unprotected. Thanks to that campaigning, against all the odds, the physical ‘demarcation’ – marking out – of the Kawahiva’s land is now complete.

Now all that remains is for President Lula to sign the Indigenous Territory into law, ensuring the land and its inhabitants get both legal and practical protections.

But until that happens, illegal loggers and farmers will continue threatening the Kawahiva’s forest, putting them and their home at risk.

The Kawahiva - one of Brazil’s most vulnerable uncontacted peoples - can’t wait any longer. Lula is neck-and-neck in the upcoming Presidential elections with the son of former President Bolsonaro, who was one of the most anti-Indigenous leaders in Brazil’s recent history. Now’s our chance, Jack.
